This year, I skipped the parties, stayed home, and watched the Doctor Who marathon. All in all, much more satisfactory than cameras panning a crowd of screaming drunks while trying to come up with relevant commentary. I caught this and last year’s Christmas specials, which both feature some lovely costuming. I think Doctor Who would be a great show to do wardrobing for, because you get the whole gamut of fashion from the start of time to the end of time, plus all the alien variations.
In the shop, Nancy has brought in some fabulous new sewing patterns from the 1950s. I’m trying to figure out where I can make space in my sewing room to work on some of these. Best of all, we’re having a White Sale! All our linens–sheets, blankets, towels, handkerchiefs, curtains, and anything else that could reasonably be considered linens–are on sale at 20% off!
As for the new year itself…I think I promised some resolutions, didn’t I? So here goes:
1. Get more goodies online. With 3,000 square feet of products in our store, there’s a long way to go.
2. Get more goodies sized! I’ve already started this project. You should soon be seeing tags marked with a bust-waist-hip measurement, i.e., 32-28-34, or 30-24-F. The “F” stands for “free,” meaning the skirt is very full and should accommodate any hip size that would come with the aforementioned bust and waist sizing.
3. Have more parties! I know, you’re so sad to read that one, right? Upcoming will be a tea party for long-time customers, probably to be held on our patio. We’re waiting for the weather to warm up a smidge before we do that one.
As a New Year’s present, I’m adding a link here to the amazing Erin McKean’s Dress A Day blog, which has boku links for sales on patterns and vintage. Enjoy!
